ExactMosaics can design a custom mosaic from any photograph or image. The company provides clients with a photograph proof before the mosaic is assembled by hand. This "virtual proof" is delivered within 2 weeks. Construction of the actual mosaic requires approximately 6 to 10 weeks. Pricing is based on size and level of detail (approximately $200 per sq ft).
Marble Mosaics
The “High-definition Marble Mosaics” line presents the first custom mosaics using the natural striations within marble to compose an image. We do not print, paint or stain the stones in any way. By using the natural veining within the stone, these mosaics achieve near-photographic image quality. Also, the colors will not fade with time and deteriorate like a painting or a photograph. Rather, the image will remain vibrant for generations to enjoy. The High-definition Stone Mosaics can be framed or permanently installed in your home or office. Individual marble piece measures approximately 5/8” X 5/8”.
Wood MosaicsThe “High-definition Hardwood Mosaics” line presents the first wood mosaics (for hardwood flooring or wall covering) created by arranging the wood grain within different cuts of oak, pine and teak to compose an image. Absolutely no staining of the wood is used. These unique works of art are the ultimate mash-up between the digital and the biological worlds. Your hardwood mosaic is certain to fascinate and delight your guests. Wood mosaics can be framed or permanently installed in your home or office. They make excellent focal points for a large hardwood floors.
InstallationOur mosaics are face mounted in sections on clear plastic film. Each mosaic section measures 1 foot x 1 foot. We can ship the mosaic sections directly to your jobsite (international shipping available). Inclued with the mosaic sections, we provide a detailed layout map that explains the placement for each mosaic section. Your installer will simply lay each mosaic section directly into the thinset. When the thinset begins to harden, the installer will peel the plastic film from the face of the mosaic (the thinset now holds each tile in place). With all the tiles are stuck onto the thinset, spread grout over the face of the mosaic. Sponge off excess grout by wiping diagnally across the joint lines.
